FAMI Unveiled Winners of the MoTourism Photography Contest 2019

Most people who own a motorbike use it for road trips, which is one of the key reasons why motorcycle touring has been gaining so much popularity over the years. Everyone appreciates nature and certainly store the experience by capturing the moments through their cameras.

The FAMI Photography Contest 2019 with the theme “Let’s explore and enjoy our wonderful world!” has been concluded successfully with the selection of the winning entries last September 2, 2019. The entries were the winners in the photo contest conducted in each participating member from Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand. The photo contest was a project undertaken by the Information Task Force (ITF) under the chairmanship of Mr. Alfredo O. Lejano.

The Selection Committee were composed of representatives from AISI, JAMA, MASAAM, MDPPA, TAIA and TTVMA. A photography expert from Bali guided the Selection Committee on the technical aspect of the entries.

The grand prize winner was Motorcycle and Scooter Assemblers and Distributors Association of Malaysia’s (MASAAM) entry entitled “The Greatest Motorcycle” which captured a farmer harvesting fruits in a Durian Plantation featuring a resilient motorcycle cub that has been popular since the early 1950s.

The Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association, Inc.’s (MDPPA) entry “Across Islands” bagged the second prize. The photo illustrates motorcycle as a tough and adaptable mode of transportation capable to be easily modified to respond to altered circumstances or conditions.

Third Prize went to Associasi Industri Sepeda Motor Indonesia’s (AISI) entry “My Motorcycle. My World” portraying the pleasure of motorcycle riding while enjoying the beauty of nature in the rural areas.

 

Below are the winning entries:

THE GREATEST EVER MOTORCYCLE. The Motorcycle Cub is an affordable vehicle used by most rural and urban communities as early as the 50s in Malaysia. The picture above shows the old Motorcycle Cub into a lifeline especially to farmers to collect, bring and market various agricultural products to improve the family economy for survival. The excitement of an old farmer named "Pok Su" is quite well-known with the old motorcycles used to bring the durian fruit that falls early in the morning. The Greatness of the Motorcycle Cub has been proven to be rugged with a wide range of heavy loads, durability, low maintenance and low maintenance costs, the use of saving petrol and its fabulously easy rides in various shapes especially in Malaysia.

ACROSS ISLANDS. With a local's help, a motorist is carefully toeing his motorcycle through a narrow makeshift bamboo bridge to a small boat for a short sail across other islands in Palawan, Philippines. Motorcycle is the most popular mode of transportation among tourists, giving rise to motorcycle touring. Compared to other vehicles, motorcycle gives tourist easier and faster mobility in exploring Palawan’s beauty. Home to various trails, beaches, and world’s natural wonder Puerto Princesa underground river, Palawan is an archipelagic province in the Philippines where travelers get to ride both motorcycles and boats to witness and experience its beauty.

The prizes were awarded by FAMI President Johannes Loman during the FAMI Management Committee Meeting on September 4, 2019 at The Stones Hotel, Legian, Bali, Indonesia. Prizes were 1st Prize: SG$4,000, 2nd Prize: SG$3,000 and 3rd Prize: SG$2,000.
